If a comprehensive plan is needed, the next step is to create a drawing that shows the site as it currently exists. The best source of information is the survey plat. In most cases, a property survey plat exists and is usually part of the homeowner’s deed. The survey details the location and size of existing built elements (buildings, walks, etc.) and the location of setback lines and easements (utility, access, drainage, etc.) What it typically doesn't show is the location of existing vegetation (trees, shrubbery, etc.) or topography (the contours or slope of the ground). Knowing the location, size, and type of existing trees and shrubs is important for developing a successful design. We will conduct our own site inventory and record the present location of existing vegetation. We will also identify any trees or shrubs that may need to be protected during the construction phase of the project. The result is a comprehensive view of your property which can be used for all future design projects.
